If you get this error message while restaring mysql service from WHM…

/usr/local/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at ‘localhost’ failed
error: ‘Can’t connect to local MySQL server through socket ‘/tmp/mysql.sock’ (2)’
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: ‘/tmp/mysql.sock’ exists!

Possible Solution:

It may be possible that MySQL socket file’s symbolic link has been removed from /tmp folder. Run the following commands to recreate it:

ln -s /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock /tmp/mysql.sock

Run following command to start MySQL service forcefully:

/scripts/mysqlup –force

Thanks!
