If you get the error "The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file '(unknown)'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data "while accessing an access database through your website.
Please check the following in this case:
1) Check if webuser (IUSR) , has the Read , Write , Modify permissions on the access database file as well as the folder under which the access database resides . Some times even if the access database file has Read, Write , Modify permissions you are unable to get rid of the error.
2) You can download Process Monitor from Microsoft's site and check which user is accessing the access database file and end that process.
3) If both the above steps do not solve your problem , you can change the asp.net version of your website from 2.0 to 1.0 and back to the original version 2.0 (or vice-versa) either from IIS or from the control panel provided by your hosting provider.
Thanks!
