In order to use your DNS server that comes with your VPS you have to setup your domain properly to use it. This can only be done at your registrar and each uses their own terminology for the process.

This describes the process of registering and then using your nameserver with godaddy.com. For the sake of discussion we will use mydomain.com in this tutorial.

1. Log in to your Account Manager.

2. From the Domain Names menu, select Manage Domains. The Domain Control Center opens.

3. In your list of domain names, click on the domain name you want to modify. The details for the selected domain display on the page.

4. In the Host Summary section, click View/Modify Detail.

5. Under Set Hosts, enter your nameserver Host names, along with their corresponding IP address, and click OK.

Godaddy says it can take up to 48 hours for these changes to take effect but it usually only takes a few hours. Thanks to GoDaddy for this information.
